I commenced
training 1980 and qualified in 1983. I obtained the Diploma
in Health Care Management in 1998 and took the post of Ward
Manager in 1999. I was appointed Clinical Nurse Specialist
in November 2001 and took over the Lead CNS role in 2004.
During this time I created the Specialist Nursing Service,
providing high level support to patients and carers affected
by urological cancers, particularly those facing complex treatment
decisions.
I am responsible
for the provision of core education to qualified nurses up
to and including Specialist Nurse level. Provide Specialist
Uro-Oncological education to staff within the Trust, to nurses
and General Practitioners in primary care and as part of the
Bradford University’s Specialist Nursing Module.
My principle
areas of specialist interest include:
- The
support of patients with localised prostate cancer and muscle
invasive bladder cancer including patients undergoing bladder
reconstruction.
- The
treatment of erectile dysfunction caused by cancer treatments.
